Israel’s third Gaza war was a political miscalculation and net political loss for Prime Minister Netanyahu, whose approval rating polled at 82 percent when Israeli ground forces moved into the Gaza Strip in late July. By August 24, the polls showed that only 38 percent approved of Netanyahu’s performance. The Israeli population, especially the political class, is dissatisfied with the drop in Israel’s international standing, blaming it on the previously unassailable Prime Minister.
