| Abe sworn in as Japanese PM |

Shinzo Abe is preparing to unveil his new cabinet after the Japanese
parliament on Wednesday appointed him Japan’s seventh prime minister in
six years. Earlier this month, Mr Abe led the Liberal Democratic party to a crushing election victory over the ruling Democratic party. Mr Abe has vowed to create a “crisis beating government” to tackle the deflation that has dogged Japan for more than two decades and also the strong yen. He has also warned the Bank of Japan that it risks losing its independence – through legislative changes – if it does not introduce a 2 per cent inflation target. http://link.ft.com/r/A1TNOO/ |
