-- I am very proud and excited that my friend and TAC publisher Jon
Basil Utley will be receiving the first Lifetime Achievement Award at
our annual gala in D.C. on May 9 this year and the Committee's esteemed
John Henry will be presenting it to him.
Everyone
should know Jon, but if you don't he is a tireless advocate of peace,
here and throughout the world. He has been forceful in pushing for a
restrained and open foreign policy that stresses diplomacy over force in
places like Russia and the Middle East, and was one of the strongest
voices against the wars in Iraq (including Persian Gulf) and tackling
the corruption and permanent war state perpetuated by the military
industrial congressional complex. He has always sought out new allies in
these endeavors, and is open to different approaches and inclusivity in
the movement. He is a champion of human rights and that shows in
everything he does.
