As news about Cyclone Idai fades from the media, the true devastation is only beginning to reveal itself. Many
people are still not accounted for, communities have been destroyed,
more than 100,000 are living in camps, and they are now bracing for the
spread of cholera and malaria.
“Every
day we discover that the destruction left by Cyclone Idai is worse than
we imagined. We are deeply concerned about remote communities that are
cut off by flooding and landslides and are yet to receive any
humanitarian assistance. More rain is expected to come, which will
compound the suffering of people who have already lost everything.” — Red Cross
Like
so many impacted by disaster, it's the days and months that follow the
initial chaos that become the most desperate. For all that they have
lost, you can provide them with hope.
