CIA in Libya Discovered Extremist Ties to Lethal Assault Within 24 Hours

A CIA intelligence agent based in Libya notified his superiors in the United States no less than a day after the deadly assault on the diplomatic compound in Benghazi that there were strong indications it was organized and led by extremist groups and not the result of an out-of-control demonstration, the Associated Press reported on Friday.
Two anonymous U.S. officials told AP the CIA's head of Libya operations on Sept. 12 prepared and sent a report using information from eyewitnesses to the Sept. 11 attack on the American complex in Benghazi that suggested extremists orchestrated the assault and used regional public anger over an anti-Muslim video to mask their real motives.
The Obama administration has been accused by Republican presidential campaign rival Mitt Romney of attempting to mislead the American public into believing the deadly attack spun out from spontaneous violence by a Libyan mob. However, the president in a speech at the White House on Sept. 12 referred to it as among "acts of terror."http://www.nti.org/gsn/article/suspected-ringleader-libya-attack-taunts-us/
