The Defense Department’s working group was built up to 120 people before the release last month of hundreds of thousands of documents from the Iraq war, then shrunk to about 60. Marine Col. David Lapan, the Pentagon spokesman, said the working group now numbers more than 100.
Pfc. Bradley Manning, who was an Army intelligence analyst stationed in Iraq, has been charged with providing classified material to WikiLeaks, including one State Department cable previously published by the site. In conversations with a former hacker, Pfc. Manning bragged about accessing other State Department cables.
