Science & Security Summit 2017

4/21: Science & Security Summit

In a political climate where the validity of facts is constantly challenged, nonpartisan and evidence-based research is more vital than ever before.

Where do scientists and engineers belong in the current political landscape? What are the roles of scientists and engineers in global security and safety? How can scientists and engineers keep us safe?

Join us on Friday, April 21 from 12-3 p.m. at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace to grapple with these questions (RSVP).

In addition to three distinguished graduate-level scientists and engineers from the University of Tennessee, University of Florida, and Texas A&M University, the summit's speakers will include:
Dr. John Holdren
Science Advisor to President Obama

Holdren is also the Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Full bio.
Dr. Richard Meserve
President Emeritus, Carnegie Institution for Science

Dr. Meserve is also the former chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Full bio.
Dr. Rodney Wilson
Director, Nonproliferation and Cooperative Threat Reduction Center at Sandia National Laboratories
