US defence lawyers are demanding to be allowed to represent Abu Anas al-Libi, the associate of Osama bin Laden seized in Libya at the weekend, and questioning the decision to hold him 'offshore' on a Navy vessel and not to bring him immediately before a judge.
A letter from the New York public defender's office obtained by The Telegraph asks for its team to be appointed to represent al-Libi. He has been held on an American warship in the Mediterranean, the USS San Antonio, since being captured outside his home by US Delta Force marines on Saturday.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/10367191/Legal-row-over-Libyan-al-Libi-held-on-Guantanamo-at-sea-warship.html
