There maybe differences between Obama and Romney on the size of the defense
budget they say today they advocate, but on even more important questions of war
and peace, the Romney etch-a-sketch (an effort to make him appear less
extreme) is putting the two peas into the same pod. That pea-pod is
not one of moderation; it is one of opportunism. That, in turn, is the
scariest posture of all on questions of war and peace.
Moreover, those differences between these two striving politicians on the
defense budget may also be diminishing. Keep an eye on that.
