Caiso ups power by 4 GW a year, builds grid with $4bn+ spend - Rethink: California’s ISO (Caiso) has issued a 391 page detailed transmission plan for the development of its grid – with mostly the effort of building it out falling on the three largest regulated utilities PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric), SCE (Southern California Edison) and SDG&E (San Diego Gas and Electric) The most shocking change in numbers on the plan is the idea that it has gone from putting just 1,000 MW a year of new resources onto the grid, up to 2,700 MW in this plan, and expect to be closer to 4,000 MW in subsequent years.
