Powered By Plutonium, NASA’s New Mars Rover Is Ready To Roll: Last week, NASA’s new Mars rover, Perseverance, received its nuclear power source, a Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator, whose energy is provided by a tiny piece of Pu-238, supplied by the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy, which will power the rover for 15 years.
