Annually, on the Sunday before Pentecost, the Church marks World Communications Day to celebrate the achievements of the media and to focus on how communications can best be used to promote Gospel values. In his message for this year's commemoration, Pope Francis called members of the media to a specific focus. “The best antidotes to falsehoods are not strategies but people,” said the Holy Father. “People who are not greedy but ready to listen, people who make the effort to engage in sincere dialogue so that the truth can emerge.”
