explains Sunni militancy in terms of francophone political culture,
without mentioning colonialism in the Levant and North Africa and its
heritage, European military interventions there, Zionism and Israel,
Belgium's role as the host of NATO headquarters, Parisian pretensions to
global eminence, etc. As fine an example of ahistorically evasive
"scholarship" as a Washington think tank can produce!
