Israeli ministers slam Kerry for tying rise of Islamic State to Israeli-Palestinian conflict
'When a British Muslim decapitates a British Christian, there will always be someone to blame the Jew,' Economy Minister Naftali Bennett says.
Economy Minister Naftali Bennett attacked U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry over his comments Friday connecting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and extremism in the Middle East.
"It turns out as well that when a British Muslim decapitates a
British Christian, there will always be someone to blame the Jew," he
said. "There is no justifying terror, only fighting it. To say that the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict is strengthening the Islamic State is
encouraging global terror."
Bennett suggested listening to the Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL, and believing the terror group.
"These are terrorists who want to control the entire Middle East
from Syria to Jordan and Lebanon, and to reestablish an Islamic
caliphate," he said. "You can either fight this or explain this. The
choice is in the world's hands, and it will bear the consequences."
The secretary of state drew a line between the need for a
resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with the fight against
extremism in the Middle East, and urged for the realization of the
two-state solution while speaking at a State Department ceremony marking
the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.
The struggle to reach a peaceful resolution to the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict, said Kerry, should be viewed within the
context of the fight against extremism such as is personified by the
Islamic State group.
