Report: Rising inequality blunts GOP's "redistribution" attacks
Income
inequality has hit a new high, census data show, with wealthy Americans
hit less hard by the recession than those with more modest incomes.
That reduces the impact of Mitt Romney's claims that President Barack
Obama is using the tax code to redistribute wealth, experts say, and
could pave the way for postelection tax hikes on the wealthy. "The
redistribution argument isn't resonating that much ... it is more likely
that we'll see taxes going up on the upper-income segment," says Anne
Mathias, director of Washington research for Guggenheim Securities. Bloomberghttp://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-28/wealthy-americans-gain-even-as-republicans-decry-redistribution.html
