This Borehole Isn’t Boring, It’s Essential
The problem with bicycles, donkeys,
motorcycles, and using your back to carry water is that they are the
tools to start the cycle of what’s wrong in Nyeri, Kenya. People must
use these methods to travel miles and miles to get water from a
contaminated river. This river is filled with garbage and shared with
the animals who bathe in it.
Yet, it is the cleanest drinking water that the villagers can find.
Drinking this water solves the problem of
thirst and dehydration momentarily and then it’s quickly followed by
another problem. The unclean water spreads disease and causes illness
among the people.

It’s
a vicious cycle that can come to an end with your help. The Brothers of
St. Joseph have a plan to install a borehole that would provide clean
water to the community of Nyeri. What they don’t have is the funding to
make it happen!
If you’re going without coffee, pop, or
alcohol this Lent, consider taking the money you would have spent on
those drinks and providing the materials needed to bring clean water to
an entire village!
Choose to make an impact this Lent. |
