Dear Michelel T,
Hurricane
Dorian battered the northern Bahamas over Labor Day weekend, hurling
catastrophic winds of up to 185 miles per hour and dropping more than 2
feet of rain. Dorian is the strongest storm ever to make landfall in the
island nation's history, leaving behind a trail of devastation and
destruction.
As the hurricane continues on its menacing path up the coast, the
immensity of the storm's destruction in the Bahamas is coming into view.
Eyewitnesses talk of tremendous human suffering. Entire communities
have been flattened, roads washed out, and hospitals flooded by several
feet of water. With estimates of more than 13,000 houses destroyed
and tens of thousands of people left homeless, without access to food,
safe water, or medicine, survivors desperately need you.
