US pivot chafes at vital Asian ties(

As
the United States re-examines its strategic rebalancing to Asia,
Washington should pay close attention to developments this week that saw
China take important steps on the road to reunification with Taiwan and
towards convergence with South Korea on dealing with the problem of
North Korea. The broad US goal of containing China increasingly runs
against some specific and urgent political necessities of China's
