Hospitals'
uncompensated care costs, which include unpaid medical bills and
charity care expenses, rose to more than $41 billion in 2011, according
to the American Hospital Association. Such costs, however, should
decline a year from now in 2014 once broader health coverage is
available under the Affordable Care Act.
