Obama's New Foreign Policy Prospect

January 22, 2013 -- The overall failure of American foreign policy
during the first Obama presidency was foreseeable. Mr. Obama had been a
law professor and urban organizer. He took his foreign policy views from
reading the newspapers, and he appointed as his advisers and officials
figures from past Democratic administrations and the academy,
representing the conventional liberal views of the period. Original
thinking was not evident. In military matters, he inevitably was the
prisoner of the Pentagon.
