Factbox: India's involvement in old ally Afghanistan
A useful review, if from an India-based source. Pakistani sources would add details of allegedly hostile Indian patterns of behavior and aid distribution along the Durand line, which separates Afghanistan from Pakistan. Part of what has been going on between India and Pakistan is a war of disinformation in which the truth is more often than not hard to untangle from the propaganda.
