This Saturday at 9:00 PM and Sunday at 9:30 AM, C-SPAN's Book TV (on C-SPAN II) will run a discussion by three of the authors of The Pentagon Labyrinth: 10 Short Essays to Help You Through It.
The presentations and Q and A will give you insights on how our weapons are designed to perform poorly in actual combat but succeed brilliantly in the Pentagon bureaucracy, Congress, and defense manufacturers' balance sheets. The discussion is provocative, and the questions and answers, while mostly friendly, evoke some significant points.
If after watching the show, you have follow up questions or, especially, if you thoroughly disagree, we welcome the debate. If you want to pursue the matter further, in any forum of your choice, please contact me at winslowwheeler@msn.com. We will be happy to accommodate you in any way or forum possible. The deterioration of our military forces at ever increasing costs is not going to reverse itself with still more business as usual from top management at the Pentagon, continuing conventional wisdom at the think tanks, or still more selfish and politically driven behaviors in Congress.
