Had Charles Freeman's role as chair of the United States' National Intelligence Council not been fatally sabotaged by the "gang of Likudniks", he would have mended the public's tattered faith in the US intelligence community by taking a real-world approach that omitted sycophancy and political correctness, Freeman tells Jim Lobe.
