Noting that conditions for the poor in
Cameroon have worsened, Carmelite missionaries noted their efforts at
solidarity, especially toward the weak, the poor, and the abandoned. "We
try to understand what their needs are and help them as much as
possible," said one missionary priest. Read more in this FIDES missionary news service article.

Being thankful...

During
his missionary visit to Thailand this past week, Pope Francis spoke
about each person's faith journey, noting the importance of being
thankful for “those people who helped us discover and discern the fire
of the Spirit.” “Standing on their shoulders, may we too feel called to
be men and women who help bring about the new life the Lord bestows on
us," the Pope said. Read more about this message as covered by Vatican
News by clicking the image above. Watch RomeReports videos on the Pope's

CAMEROON 'Closeness to the most needy a priority'
|
Children
in Cameroon who have lost their caregivers due to AIDS are often
rejected by society and unable to attend school. Sister Marie cares for
many of these children at the Hope Center in Yaounde, giving them the
love and attention they do not receive elsewhere. Through a partnership
with a school of agriculture nearby, Sister Marie is raising money so
that 10 Hope Center children can attend a nearby agriculture school and
receive training in fish breeding and sales.
