Pamela, 7, lives in Nduta refugee Camp in Tanzania.

It's hard to have to write this email again. Last year, our country lowered the number of refugees accepted in the United States to historic lows.

Yesterday, you may have heard, the United States announced plans to lower that number again. Our country has a long history of welcoming people forced to flee their homes, providing a lifesaving solution for the most vulnerable refugees. That commitment is now in jeopardy.

I know it can make a person feel helpless. But there are steps we can take to make our voices heard and show that we still stand #withrefugees.

How to take action:

No matter the politics, refugees and their children deserve our compassion, and they need our help.

Refugees deserve a safe place to live — a place where they can build a new life. I urge you to stand with us and let the world know that Americans stand #withrefugees.
