On February 14, 1945, FDR met Ibn Saud aboard the USS Quincy on Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal  secret meeting. They cut a deal that changed the world. "We give you our oil, you leave our religion alone."

Adam Curtis's BBC documentary BITTER LAKE recounts the agreement and aftermath, extending to activities Afghanistan and Iraq and beyond to what we see today.
