Washington elites have decimated the U.S. economy. They traded the gold of American manufacturing jobs for the silver of geopolitical power. Rather than fight for our middle class, they took false pride in the warfare state. The result, writes our "Thomas Paine" columnist, is that the world no longer listens to Washington elites.
