A recent poll shows a 70%-29% margin of opposition to plans to build an Islamic center near Ground Zero in New York. This reflects another survey showing that Americans have an "unfavorable" view of Islam by a margin of 53%-42%. What Americans observe, in part as a result of exposure to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, is that Islam has produced a large number of individuals enraged enough to blow themselves up to kill Americans as well as each other.
