The
devastation caused by Cyclone Idai is shocking and "is getting worse by
the hour." It's being called the worst natural disaster the southern
hemisphere has ever seen.
Information is still coming in, but the latest reports estimate more
than 1,000 people are dead and millions are in grave danger. Eyewitnesses describe people clinging to rooftops, waiting to be saved. Survivors desperately need you.
“The
cyclone has affected at least 2.6 million people in the region, causing
a major humanitarian emergency that is getting bigger by the hour." — World Food Program, UN
Most
of the people impacted are already unimaginably poor, and this disaster
is taking away what little they have. We are working with local
partners on the ground to send desperately needed relief to those
affected, including healthcare and medical supplies. You can help.
