EUROPE Record Numbers of Migrants Enter Europe At least 224,000 migrants and refugees have crossed (AFP) the Mediterranean to Europe so far this year, up from the 219,000 in all of 2014. Meanwhile, the UN described (Deutsche Welle) the conditions for migrants on Greek Islands as "total chaos" a day after more than two hundred migrants are feared to have drowned at sea near the Libyan coast. Separately, the UK government is considering (Irish Times) closing the Channel Tunnel overnight as thousands of migrants have attempted to reach the UK from the French city of Calais through the tunnel.
