Arab League Sets New Defense Force at 40,000

ABU DHABI — The newly unveiled joint Arab defense force will be twice the size of NATO's Response Force at 40,000 men, according to an Arab League source.The force, announced during the Arab League Summit's preparatory meeting on March 25, will be based in Egypt and mainly comprise forces from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Morocco, and be led by a Saudi officer at the helm, the source added.
