Liberia Aims To Halt New Cases By Dec. 25
Bolstering hopes that Liberia may be turning a corner combating Ebola, Liberia has set a national goal of having no new cases of Ebola by Dec. 25, announced by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in a radio address yesterday.

The UN mission against Ebola aims to have 70% of patients under care and 70% of bodies buried by Dec. 1.

Ebola has killed at least 2,812 people in Liberia, out of a total of 5,165 victims in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, according to WHO numbers reported Friday. While new cases appear to be declining in Guinea and Liberia, WHO figures point to a sharp increase in new cases in Sierra Leone.

Sirleaf also shuffled her cabinet, naming George Werner as the country’s new health minister.
