Key takeaway: people need to own the fact that there is a trade-off between cracking down on ISIS and supporting the flow of "non-ISIS, non al-Qaeda" jihadis to Syria to fight Assad. If people feel sad about that, they should reflect on the fact that the alternative at the margin to administrative means of controlling ISIS is increased bombing, and that also has costs.
