CIA vs. The Senate: The Constitution Demands Action
By Bruce Ackerman
at
CIA
spying on the Senate is the constitutional equivalent of the Watergate
break-in. In both cases, the executive branch attacked the very
foundations of our system of checks and balances.
President
Obama is not President Nixon. He hasn’t been implicated personally in
organizing this constitutional assault. But he is wrong to support the
limited response of his CIA director, John
Brennan, who is trying to defer serious action by simply creating an
“accountability panel” to consider “potential disciplinary measures” or
“systemic issues.”
