The "Islamic state"

Since the dramatic proclamation a month ago of the Islamic State, replacing ISIS/ISIL, its control over Sunni eastern Syria and western Iraq has been consolidated but it has not attempted further expansion, for example refraining from attacking Kurdistan. Since it is in violent confrontation with all its neighbours, reports about its problems or progress are befogged by propaganda. A typical example is a report quoted by the UN humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Jacqueline Badcock (sic) that women in Mosul had been ordered to undergo female genital mutilation; the decree seen on social media may be a fake aimed at discrediting the IS (and as we commented in our posting of 4 July FGM is not regarded as an Islamic practice and according to most reports is not prevalent in the Arab Levant though it is apparently common in Kurdistan).http://us7.campaign-archive1.com/?u=2820afb1fbae0c99e88fb6f52&id=8994974e6d&e=672f0b89c4
