  The election is over, and the White House and congressional Republicans are under mounting pressure to find a meaningful solution to America's fiscal crisis. Obama officials say they will push for a two-pronged approach aimed at staving off a short-term crisis while providing long-term deficit fixes, likely involving higher contributions for the wealthiest taxpayers. GOP leaders have so far struck a conciliatory note, but rank-and-file Republicans say they remain committed to fight against any increase in tax revenues.
