Over the Horizon: Sea Power and the Arab Spring
By: Robert Farley | ColumnMaritime power has not been central to the course of Libya's revolution. Similarly, the Egyptian navy played no meaningful role in overthrowing Hosni Mubarak. And as for the West, there has been a Mediterranean response, but it has seemed languid given the potential for revolutionary change in North Africa. While the Arab Sprin is far from over, sea power has thus far been curiously absent.
